Hey everyone.
Tonight my parents called me frantically wondering where I was and if I was ok. Apparently, my grandma received a call ~3 hours before ago. She claims that the caller sounded like me, called her a personal nickname, and knew other details about her life. The girl (pretending to be me) was distraught, claiming that she was in jail, to not tell my parents, and that most importantly she needed bail money -- in the form of gift cards. There was also a man involved who acted as the 'police officer.' My grandma panicked and purchased 2,000 dollars of gift cards (using a credit card). She was scared and very upset - We calmed her down enough to talk through what happened, but now I'm not sure what the next best steps are. I realize that this is one of the rouses used to scam senior citizens and I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do. I know that the money is gone but I feel awful. 2k is a lot of money (that my grandma doesn't have). Any suggestions would be much appreciated
