Could use some feedback or advice on a fireplace remodel. I have a new build house, and I want to replace the fireplace surround (http://ift.tt/2gYIM4J ) with stone - something like these: http://ift.tt/2xssITm ; http://ift.tt/2gYGxhV Both the builder and some of the contractors I've spoken with swear by cultured stone over natural stone veneer. The cost for the job using natural stone seems about double that over using cultured stone. My concerns are mainly weight of natural stone (the fireplace is on an interior wall), appearance (fake looking), and longevity (will the lifespan of one material over the other offset the upfront costs).
