Good afternoon.I am hoping that someone can confirm that an idea I have is either great, or terrible. My wife is a chef, so as we are remodeling our kitchen, she has requested a 60" range. Technically the range will have 6 burners, a 24" flat top, and two ovens side by side. Believe it or not, these can be found fairly inexpensively as a used professional piece. The real issue lies in the fact that the required range hood is massive (I have heard 72" minimum to support a 60" range). I would end up spending more on the hood, than I am on the range. So I had an idea...I have seen several people turn under cabinet mount vents into "custom hoods" by building a wooden/metal frame around the under mounted hood. This I can do, no problem, but my idea was to buy two 30" under mount hoods, and build a large custom hood around them, so it looks like one large 72" range hood. This would also provide some flexibility as to if I turn on both vents, or just one, depending on the need. I am not worried about having two vent holes outside, if I am committing to a 60" range, I clearly don't mind things being different than normal when it comes to resale.Well I appreciate any feedback/suggestions.TL:DR Can I put two 30" under mount vent hoods side by side, and then build a custom hood around them, making it look like a giant 72" hood to cover my 60" range. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2jO9QrP
