I'm 32, single, rent, and make $70k. I've driven a 99 civic for the pats 11 years and have decided to buy a new (used) car. I've decided on another civic.
My dilemma is I want to buy a slightly used 2016 base model. I've driven and met with a 92 year old woman and her son who owns one with 5000 miles in mint condition. It's going for $15k, which is more than I intended to pay going into this car buying process a month ago, but is also a great deal for this car.
My other option I'm considering is to spend $9-12k for a 2009-2012 civic with 50-75,000 ish miles.
Basically, I'm recently divorced and the 2016 civic is the car I really want, and I'm here looking for validation from other frugal people. The older civics are more frugal and probably a better value, but I'm thinking not THAT much better. They are also butt ugly which is honestly at least half the reason I want the 2016.
