Has this happened to anyone else?
I received an email this morning stating:
"(sbwt),
Congratulations! Because you’ve used your card responsibly, you’ve been upgraded to an unsecured Capital One® Platinum Mastercard®. Go, you!"
This took me completely by surprise as I've always read that Capital One does NOT convert secured to unsecured cards and they've repeatedly denied my credit limit increases for the past year or so.
I have had this card since June 2015 and have been stuck at a $600 credit limit for the past 14(ish?) months. I'd actually been thinking of closing the card since I now have a Quicksilver card with CO that I use as my main card and the (previously) secured card just had one bill on it that I immediately pay off each month.
Since this is my first post, I'd also like to take a second to thank r/personalfinance! New account but I've been lurking here for well over a year and in that time have taken MANY steps to improve my credit / financial independence thanks to all of the information & tips I have read here.
EDIT: I checked my account and the deposit has already been credited back!
