I'm 22 years old and graduated from college this past May. I've been living at home since then, and while my parents think it would be financially irresponsible for me to move out, I'm curious what you guys think.

I've saved quite a bit of money, and have about $7500 in the bank right now. I currently have a full time fellowship position that runs until June, where I am making a small stipend of $11/hour, and take home $700 every two weeks after taxes.

I am in the Boston area, and it is difficult to find a room in an apartment for less than $800/month.

I currently pay $130/month for public transport into the city, which could be eliminated if I move within walking distance to my office.

I am planning on attending grad school starting next fall, for which I will need to take out student loans.

I went to state school for my undergrad degree, and was fortunate enough to have my parents cover the cost, so I currently have no debt.

So do you guys think moving out is irresponsible or potentially doable? My commute is hellish, and I feel personally stunted still living at home, so my urge to leave the nest could definitely be clouding my judgement. Thanks for your input!
