Hello Reddit. I am adopting a dog soon and want to make my house completely fenced in. There is one gap that needs to be finished. The gate in this photo doesn't extend far enough to close the front of the property, so I am building a matching brick pillar. My question is: How do you do footings so that the pillar can be properly anchored? The amount of room I can dig is the exact width the pillar needs to be. I think I can figure out how to lay the bricks from tutorials. It won't be perfect, but I need to do something and extending the gate an extra 5 feet is out of my price range.
