I'm renovating my basement and the stairs going down are unassumingly treacherous. I've eaten shit on them more times than I can count and my toddler once fell down them and dislocated her poor little elbow! She fell down the first flight and then off the platform onto the floor below! We modified the stairs so that wont happen again by putting a gate on the side of the platform/stair landing so there's no gap to fall through, however, I think the stairs are just "narrow", as in where you step - each step is less than a foot "12 length, so it's easy to slip off them.Is there anything I can do about that other than entirely modifying the stairs? Because I just ate shit yet again while carrying my toddler down for her nap and nearly broke my arm and she hit her head on the railing. Getting pretty tired of this. If I have to replank the steps, I will, I'd just rather not. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2x1n07V
