I live incredibly simply. I eat only home-cooked meals with very rare exceptions (I eat out less than once per month). I don't spend money at social venues. I buy clothes only when existing ones have become too worn or damaged to be serviceable. I have a prepaid flip phone so people can get ahold of me, but otherwise never use it. I have a custom-built PC that is about mid-range for gaming purposes, and use it for all of my entertainment: gaming, tv shows, movies, music and more. I even download most of my media via torrents.

I enjoy this lifestyle, but I imagine I wouldn't be able to pull it off so easily if I had a lot of friends. At the moment, I have very few friends. I'm in my 30s, have lived on the opposite side of the planet from my home country for over half a decade, and have only made a handful of friends where I live now - most of whom I rarely see. I'm married to someone who also lives simply, and my social needs are pretty much entirely satisfied by my wife.

My hunch is that a minimalist or simple lifestyle is easier if you're an introvert, and easiest is you're an isolationist. What are your thoughts? Are most of you people who keep mostly to themselves? If not, do you face constant challenge or pressure from others to abandon your chosen lifestyle? Have you had to end some friendships because of people who refused to accept your choices?

Thanks for your answers!
