Telecom major, Bharti Airtel and SK Telecom, korea’s largest telecom company has announced a strategic partnership under which Airtel will leverage SK Telecom’s expertise to build the most advanced telecom network in India.

The partnership will work across several areas including developing bespoke software to dramatically improve network experience, leveraging advanced digital tools including machine learning, big data and building customised tools to improve network planning based on every customer’s device experience, said the company in a BSE filing on Wednesday.

The two companies will also collaborate on an on-going basis to evolve standards for 5G, Network Functions Virtualisation, Software-defined Networking and Internet of Things and jointly work towards building an enabling ecosystem for the introduction of these technologies in the Indian context, it added.

Bharti Airtel was trading at Rs 404.70 per share, down by Rs 0.20 or 0.05% as at 0933 hours on Wednesday, on the BSE as against its previous close of Rs 404.90.
