This sub doesn't like active management, but I've been surprised by the amount of people who support active management just for Emerging Markets.
What do you think about actively managed EM funds?

I'm looking into an actively managed Vietnam fund, AFC Vietnam Fund, which has grown 18% irr since 2014 inception, while VNM(passive) has lost money. How do I know if this is random/lucky? How does one assess if this is a good idea? The management Fee is 1.85% and "12.5% NAV appreciation above high water mark"....seems high but I'm not sure what to compare it to.
