I checked my account on Monday and saw that I had a deposit of $400 as a "Debit Purchase Ret(urned) - Visa Paypal" on 9/11. I found a withdrawal from my account on 8/22 of $400 to PayPal as a Debit Purchase. I haven't used my PayPal account since 2014 but have used their site to checkout as a guest. I was making a lot of payments around that time for things like books, rent, application fees, and tuition but I don't remember paying any entity $400.00. I've contacted my bank who could only tell me it was from PayPal and PayPal couldn't find anything regarding it from my checking account, debit card or email.
I'm worried I made a payment on something and it hadn't gone through or was rejected. How can I trace this payment? Why can't PayPal tell me where it went? Could my account security be compromised?
