US native here. I expated to the UK and I now permanently live here. In the US I left with debt to Care credit (which I am keeping up on paying), Chase and Capitol One debt which I am not paying. I called them to say I no longer live in the US, can't work for 6 months, and can't pay. They were no help and did not care.
In the US I have/had no assets and my checking account was closed before leaving. In the UK I have successfully bought a house with my fiance and have a UK checking account with $300 in it.
I have no savings as I just finished paying off my bachelor's degree. What will happen if I don't pay my debt? Whenever I pay it down it just goes up from interest. I have about $13,000. It was $10K, but interest brought it up after paying it down.
I don't plan to open a credit card in the UK at all for at least 10 years.
What should I do? Will they likely sue me? I'm happy with a 1099 form. Would they most likely do that?
I'm never going back to the US and plan to UK naturalize.
EDIT: I am also NOT looking to build any credit in the UK yet.
