Hello all,

I was hoping this thread might be able to give me some advice in relation to the below --

In short (I would rather not go into too much detail but can if necessary) a few years ago (2013/14 academic year) I took out a loan to study in the US. As I did not have a SSN, I was required to have an American guarantor.

I did not complete my studies and subsequently left the country - I am a UK citizen and live in the UK.

I left on good terms with my guarantor and the individual assisted with making repayments. However, such assistance has now stopped and I have found myself in quite unfortunate financial circumstances and I myself am unable to make repayments.

What will happen going forward now that repayments have stopped for the time being? What is the legal liability of myself and the guarantor?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
