For the past decade I have paid 39.99+tax for my charter internet bill. This past year (after they purchased Time Warner and became more of a monopoly) when I did my annual call and threaten to cancel (yawn) about six months ago the best they could do was 44.99.
60 bucks a year isn't a big deal and I just accepted it and moved on. However I saw today that the 39.99 new customer rate is back. I am more concerned that the 60 additional per year becomes 600 over the next ten years if I don't get back on the 39.99 boat.
However, I am having a HUGE issue getting them to drop the additonal five bucks. I had thought it would be no issue. I tried chat, phone, and I'm currently set up to cancel in 30 days. I don't want to cancel because they do have a monopoly on the only decent local internet.
Does anybody have any advice/experience negotiating with Charter after the TWC merger? I set up to cancel as I have read if you have a cancel date set they will call and try to talk you out of it. I now worry I'll be stuck paying the full 70 a month after my promo year is up either way. Any advice welcome!
