I have been doing some searching on this sub , and it seems almost every top recommendation for shoes are to get a pair of Allen Edmonds, or used Allen Edmonds if you are poor. I'm sure these are fantastic shoes, but I would like to know if there are more international brands that makes sturdy shoes.
Another things that comes up frequently in my searches is the implication that if something is made in America, it is a sign of quality and durability.
In general, how true is this? How did American goods come to acquire this reputation(at least on reddit)? I know a thing or two about Gibson guitars which are made in America, and I can tell you being made in America doesn't count for very much in terms of value for money or quality control when it comes to Gibsons.
Is this reddit's American centric nature at work? Or are there any other countries with just as good a reputation when it comes to quality?
