I want to set up a garden area in my backyard, and I am considering removing the first inch or two of soil and replacing it with compost and woodchips.
The current topsoil is an unappealing array of rocks, old potting soil, dog feces and bones.
I'm planning on setting up a fruit and vegetable garden, so I would like to know that the soil isn't primarily dog feces.
