I'm driving a shitty old 2001 Toyota beater that I've had for 13yrs. I live in the city though where I can bike for a lot of things, it's only at 70k miles, most of those used on driving to various national parks nearby.

At it's age, things are starting to break, but nothing too costly. It's only a 200-300 dollar repair usually. The interior has all sorts of cracks and junk from just old plastic. Pieces get stuck, carpets stained, it's just old.

The thing is, it works fine. It seems stupid to buy something else.

My situation is weird. I ran a business for about 5 years and made a pretty good amount of money. My house is all 100% paid for, and I have about 70k in the bank. The business is pretty much on autopilot now, and I still take in about 2200 a month off it. I have no idea how long that will last, but it has given me a lot of free time to travel. Unfortunately, my car kinda sucks for that... It gets terrible gas mileage, and I'm still worried it's going to croak while I am in the middle of nowhere.

It's just really hard to justify buying a new car though. I might have plenty saved up, but I don't know how long my income will continue. It feels like I'm making a huge mistake in adding an expense like that. I don't want to buy another $6000 beater though. If I buy something, I'd prefer a new or newish reliable car and need something that lets me travel in.

At the same time, I hate feeling imprisoned by worrying that the money will stop flowing.

I'm just stuck. What should I do?
