I am an American, but I have a new Godson that has New Zealand citizenship (i.e. no SSN). My wife and I would like to set up some form of savings for him. What are the best long term options for a child that does not have the same citizenship where the account is setup? Most savings accounts, funds, and plans (e.g. 529 Plan) require the SSN of the child, correct? What is an appropriate amount to save monthly/annually? Thank you!
