I am looking for a pair of pants that do everything from thorny yard work to laying hardwood floors. The rest is all a story about why I want a good pair of pants, so it's not necessary.
I'm in college, and while I am not going into a trade of any kind, I really enjoy working in my yard (every other day or so) and with my grandfather, who laid floors for a living (maybe a couple weekends a year). Story time cause I'm proud of coming from his roots.
My Papa's parents were Italian immigrants (he was born in the US), and came to the US with nothing to their name. His dad was an alcoholic, so he dropped out of school when he was 12 to support his dad, mom, and three siblings. He never learned to read/write, even to this day. He only knew simple arithmetic so he wouldn't get screwed with money, and how to lay a hardwood floor. He went on to support his immediate family, and then my Nana, Father, Aunt, and Uncle on his hands and knees. He put three kids through college, and into the careers they're in today, with the sweat on his back and his calloused knees. I grew up very privileged in my own life because my dad learned the value of every cent from his lower middle class upbringing. I've only started to realize it now that I'm old enough to look past the "parents suck" part of my life, but knowing my dad and his own success, the man still bends over to pick up pennies. It's my dream to do what my dad and aunts/uncles did for his dad, and that's make sure he never wants for anything in whatever's left of his life when I make my own career.
Sorry for the wall of text, but basically working with my grandfather gives me the appreciation of what he went through, and I love spending time with him, but I always rip through my jeans or whatever I wear after a couple work days.
