Please forgive me if this is not the appropriate place/way to make this request. I am new to this sub. I am planning to buy my boyfriend a new EDC/laptop bag for his birthday in a few weeks. I found this subreddit and I've read a number of posts, and I've looked at a LOT of manufacturer websites and I'm finding it a bit overwhelming.
What I'm looking for:
Needs to be relatively large - larger than a normal laptop case (he needs to carry his lunch along with other items for a sometimes very long day)
Waterproof or Weather-Resistant
Needs to look relatively like a normal laptop bag (He works on Capitol Hill and it is not so much the place for Fashion Trends)
It needs to be comfortable to carry (he walks about 25 minutes to and from work, he prefers a long strap that can go over his shoulder, but i am thinking having backpack straps as an option would be nice)
Needs to be durable (he's gone through 2 basic bags in about 6 years - thus I found this sub)
The budget is $500
The one that I think best meets the list is the Tom Bihn Tristar with the Freudian Slip organizer added. I think that a lot of the sites I have looked at are more just backpacks - which are out because in the summer, in a suit, in DC, a backpack on your walk to work just means back sweat. Are there others bags I'm missing or should take a look at?
