I (F24) am planning on keeping my individual savings/checking account after marriage, as is my fiance (31M). My bank is a very small credit union, and his is a much larger, national bank. We would like to open a joint savings/checking account together that will be used for all monthly expenses (rent, groceries, etc) and we will put the surplus into savings for a home/vacations. Whose branch is the better option to start our joint account with? Will I have trouble contributing to it electronically if I keep my small credit union? What else can we do to plan financially?

It is important to us that we keep our separate accounts because our spending priorities are so drastically different. How can we do this without anger/resentment? (I am currently really annoyed that when we go over monthly receipts, Fiance will cross out my shampoo/conditioner and refuse to go 50/50 on items that are obviously just mine. And no, they are not expensive/brand-name items).
