Hi DIY! My friend and I recently rented a house and we are severely lacking in countertop space. We're grad students, we will only be living here for two years so we decided to make a very cheap, temporary countertop in the kitchen that can be thrown away once we graduate.Found some old tabletops for free on craigslist and figured all we needed was to cut them and add on some 4x4s with hangar bolts as legs. Well, after cutting the old tables and mounting them we have run into some issues.http://ift.tt/2wIjq19, legs cut at Home Depot are not all the same length.. I don't have a saw big enough to cut 4inches to fix this, so the counter is sagging in the middle. The 4 end legs are all 3feet on the money, the ones in the middle are about 1/2inch too short. We also have no support bar, so half the counter is literally hanging on the edge of a 4x4. I was wondering what kind of supports you would recommend to hold the two halves of the counter together.Once we get this thing leveled and the two pieces stable I think it will look a lot better when we finish sanding and put on a new coat of varnish, and paint the legs white. But for now we don't know the best way to stabilize this, if the hanger bolts were a bad idea, or if we should try doing something else. All help is appreciated! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2ftdyFH
