Hello all, I have been using Mint to track my Net Income and growth over time. As of late, if feels like I am making only minimal progress or some months even a net loss. I am trying to sort out a budget and would really appreciate any advice.

I am 26 years old working as a Project Manager in the software industry. The role is grossing me ~45k/yr and I end up taking home around $2950 after tax per month.

Currently, my average month looks like the following: $1050 Rent (incl. utilities), $799 Food (Groceries, Dine Out, etc.), ~$200 Bills ($100 Internet, $61 Mobile Phone, etc.), $192 Student Loan Repayment (~$12k remaining, currently making minimum payments), and anywhere from 300-700 on General Shopping expenses.

I was also putting away around $125 per week into my TFSA, although I stopped this a couple months ago to reign in some credit card debt.

My goals right now are to just build up a stable base. The TFSA is mostly my emergency budget, and I don't have a stable RRSP or equivalent retirement flow.

EDIT: I should also mention I am Canadian so the TFSA and RRSP are savings vessels.

Any tips?
