John Deere L130 48" with Kohler Command 23 hp engine. Battery is 1 year old and reads 13+v at full.Problem 1: The mower won't start properly. I usually have to disconnect the negative battery terminal to get any power to the ignition (headlights wont work, no crank - disconnect and reconnect battery and all is good.)If I try to start the engine without a charger connected, it tries to crank for a split second but seems like there's not enough power. I can smell sulfuric acid coming off the battery when I do this. Then I need to disconnect the battery, and charge it up again before trying again. I've been doing this for probably the past 8 starts, and it eventually works every time.Problem 2: Engine has been running uneven, seems like a fuel issue as I can get it to even out with Throttle/Choke. Mower stalled out after 20-30 mins of cutting. PTO was engaged, but it seemed like it had less power before it cut off completely.I don't think it's the starter because the engine is trying to crank. (as long as the battery has been disconnected/reconnected and charged.)I can hear the fuel solenoid open when key is turned.Possible problems: Stator, voltage regulator, relays. Can anyone help me with this? Is there any way the 2 problems are related? I'm green when it comes to electrical.... any help on how to use a multi meter to test the components would be great. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2wl0SXU
