Hi everyone!
I've been using Every Dollar religiously since 2015 and I love it. It's a great tool for helping me visualize how much money I'd like to spend/save in various areas. But with that said, I am AWFUL at tracking my spending.
I'm usually off by about $20 in either direction, but this month I was over by $160! It was a weird month that was stretched budget-wise, but I thought I had taken everything I spent into account.
Currently the way I manage my finances is by paying for everything with two cash back rewards card (one 1.5x rewards and one 5% rewards based on different categories), and paying the full amount off every month. I very occasionally use my debit card to get cash, but I don't like working with physical money if I don't have to.
I used to pay everything but bills with cash, but didn't like this method because it took more discipline to track. The envelopes system was also too complicated for my needs. Getting a nice chunk of change in cash back rewards is also a perk I'm not willing to give up.
With that in mind, how do you guys make it a habit to track your spending? Right now, I aim to tally everything up at the end of the week because I was forgetting to track daily. But clearly I'm missing things, and it's making my budget moot.
