I'm relatively new to investing and would like some advice on how to invest when the market is trending downwards. I know we're still in a bull market but this run is reaching historic lengths and I feel it may reverse soon. I'm thinking about focusing my portfolio on safer investments and bonds until global tensions and uncertainty in the US decreases. Currently I'm mostly holding $VOO and $VTI, but am considering selling in exchange for some bond and similar etfs like $TLT, $LQD, $SHY, $IEF and $MINT. Thoughts on these? What are some other "safer" investments? How safe of an investment are these kind of stocks in the event of a bear market?
