Hello, r/DIY. I live in Virginia and I am planning out how i would convert the existing phone line in my house to cat 5 or 6 line. There is a phone wall jack in every room that is not used (we disconnected the phone long ago) and i would like to replace this line with Ethernet cable. I debated running new cable in my attic instead of doing this, but decided that it would be better to use existing port locations instead of making new ones, however inconveniently placed they are. My questions are as follows:How would i go about pulling cable through? Are there specifics i should look out for? What is the rerecorded category to use?Is it okay to place my equipment (switch, router, etc.) in a garage?Thank you in advance for any insight you can give me here.Edit: I also have a crawlspace if that helps via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2vGStLn
