I know there has been a lot of discussion in this sub about Spectrum internet, but I'm wondering what decision everyone actually made: did you stick with Spectrum, go elsewhere? Were you able to negotiate Spectrum down?
Right before the TWC/Spectrum merger I was able to negotiate a rate of $34.99/mo for 50mbps. Now the promo period has ended and they're jacking up the price up to $59.99/mo. I called customer service, threatened cancelling, etc. (I'd been negotiating with TWC annually for years), but Spectrum wouldn't budge. They have an internet promo for $44.99/mo for 100mbps for new customers. Even though I'm still "technically" a TWC and haven't moved over to Spectrum officially (per my call with Spectrum CS), they will not offer me this rate! They claim all they can do is switch me over and can up me to 100mbps for 64.99/mo. I'm irate.
I could move to AT&T and bundle with my wireless for $30/mo for 18mbps. But there is a $99 installation fee. I own my own modem/router, but I would have to use AT&T's equipment (I've been told by one rep the equipment is included in the $30 and by another rep it'd be an extra $10/mo).
r/frugal, I'm at a loss. I've never not been able to negotiate down before. I live by myself in a studio in LA. I think these may be my only two options, and I'm just not sure what to do. Thank you!
