I'm just beginning with stocks so I'm practicing my fundamental analysis. While using an arbitrary stock, in this case $AMZN, the total D/E of the most recent quarter is shown as 101.75 on Yahoo Finance. However, when I do total liabilities / shareholder's equity, I end up with a ratio of 2.78. Another problem I have with this debt is that total debt in the most recent quarter is shown as 23.62B on Yahoo Finance under the statistics for $AMZN. However, on the balance sheet, total liabilities is shown as 64.567B. I've looked up formulas concerning D/E ratio and I understand that total liabilities is the same as total debt. I would greatly appreciate if someone could explain this to me. Thanks /r/investing!
