Bought an Acer C720 (chromebook) off ebay for $65 used. Condition was great, there's a few others in that price range
-
installed custom firmware + bios off some basic youtube tutorials
-
wrote over chromeos with antergos + xfce (extremely lightweight and modern, fast, easy installer)
-
installed whisker menu for the c720's search key
-
installed midori browser
looks/feels great. I get a ton of work done and it's offline capabilities are way better than what a regular chromebook has. I mess around with super-budget options for computing all the time and I think if you're capable of following instructions and need a solid desktop experience for VERY cheap this is the best I've come up with. I keep seeing people recommend buying something $100-$300 then adding an SSD and RAM on this sub, so I thought I'd take my own shot at blowing that out of the water.
