My HP Envy randomly met its death a week before class which starts on Tuesday; something to do with the fan and motherboard. To say the least, I am on time pressure to buy a laptop before Sunday which is when I leave from my hometown. A local tech support guy we visit offered us a factory resetted, used Acer Aspire E5-551-T5SN (from 2015) for $250; 12 GB for RAM, around 600 to 700 GB from a partitioned 1 TB hard drive, AMD A10-7300 1.9 GHz Processor, 5-hour battery life, and lastly installed with Microsoft. Still unsure about whether it will meet my needs over time; one parent suggests buying this now and then another later (next year or something) and the other saying I settle for something expensive. Should I settle for this or a more recent, expensive laptop? If the latter, what brand?
