Hi,I'm trying to build a simple pipe clamp desk like this: http://ift.tt/2v8hWh6 question is whether I use galvanised or black steel pipes. I am indifferent between the two but I prefer the look of the black steel pipe.I don't know how easily that patina scratches off. Inevitably there will be things bumping into the desk over time, so if it scratches off it defeats the purpose. I was under the impression the black colour comes from oil residue during the production process so it can be scratched / rubbed off.I've seen this post but my question is slightly different because the cost between the two types of pipes is the same and I'm more interested in preserving the black appearance. Finally, I realise I could simply paint the pipe but I quite like [this])http://ift.tt/2vrrTJ9) worn appearance. Thanks via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2ub8Pel
