I've just recently come back from an investment hiatus and have started looking at world markets and ETFs to get something of a barometer for what's going on in the world. The first thing I noticed were some pretty striking numbers in the Brazilian markets over the past three months (an currently looking at Morning Star's Brazil Index PR BRL). It was my impression that Brazil's economy has been in tenuous shape, and was thus rather surprised to see Brazil ETFs averaging 30% returns over a 3 month period. Is there really that much stability and grow going on in Brazil's economy? Are there particular events that have spurred this kind of growth? And perhaps most importantly, is this kind of grow stable? Looking at the charts for some of these ETFs there are some startling dips, $BRZU being one example. Anyone here knowledgeable about what's going on there and what accounts for this kind of movement?
