Today I got an adapter that plugs into a standard wall outlet and turns it into five outlets. But, will having this plugged in constantly bring the electric bill up? How much truth is there to the idea that something plugged in uses electricity even when it's not on? For instance, does having the TV plugged in even when the TV is off use electricity? I've never really understood it.
