Hey there! I'm 23 and currently going to school. I'm applying for web development jobs so that I can get enough salary to move out on my own. The reason I want to move out is of course for independence, but mainly because my parents hate each other and argue all the time. I don't like coming home because the odds of an argument happening are usually pretty high. They basically stay together for my little brother, and cause it's cheaper for each of them (stupid I know). I do a lot of my personal and school work at home and I think it would be nice to have a small place where I can focus on all my things without the drama.

So basically I want to know if moving out over this reason is a smart move, but if I'm able to get a good paying job I want to also know if my expenses make any sense and if I'm missing anything. I plan to save for atleast 8 months of bills before moving out. Assuming I can get paid salary $38,000 (after tax), my monthly expenses look like such:

  • Car: $160 = 5.05%
  • Car insurance: $150 = 4.74%
  • Apartment: $700 = 22.11%
  • Food: $200 = 6.32%
  • House supplies: $50 = 1.58%
  • Electricity & water: $150 = 4.74%
  • Phone: $100 = 3.16%
  • Gas: $100 = 3.16%
  • Cable/Internet: $100 = 3.16%
  • Haircuts: $50 = 1.58%
  • Saving: $1,000 = 31.58% ($200 car maintenance, $400 future bills, $400 future investments)
  • Play money: $400 = 12.63% TOTAL: $3,160 = 99.79%

P.s. I live in Florida.
