So I have a 3/4 inch maple board that I have stained with a honey oak color. I am now applying a gloss polyurethane coat.I put about two coats on and its very glossy. You can see yourself in it. I sanded it down because there were these little hair-like things in the gloss (side question: anyone know what these are? i cleaned the hell out of the top before coating and used a very good brush). Now that it's sanded down a bit, I'm thinking about using a polyurethane coat with a satin finish instead.I'm wondering if it would be okay to do a satin finish, or if it would be weird to coat it with a satin finish since I did about two layers with a gloss finish. The gloss finish doesn't actually look glossy anymore after sanding (go figure), so I wouldnt think it would be a big deal to put on a satin one instead. I used a 220 grit sand paper to sand it down, but I could use a 120 to get rid of the top more and then add the satin finish if that's better. Thanks for the help!edit: a word via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2vacqJb
