Currently driving a 2010 Ford Fusion SE with 120,000 KM (74k miles / freedom units). Since last October I've spend ~$3000 on repairs for the damn thing. New brake pads / rotors, new e-brake cable, and now something about a sway bar (or something). I think there was more but I can't remember honestly.

It seems like every 3-4 months I've got another 1k car bill that pops up and I'm getting annoyed with it. I realize I could learn to do some of these repairs myself however I value my time over money and would rather just pay to get it done (so lets not turn this into a debate on how I should do my own repairs please).

I'm debating on buying a "new" car. There's a 2013 Mazda 3 Hatchback with 75,000 KM (46k miles) for ~12k. I've been wanting to switch to a hatchback for a while anyways. I'd trade in my car and just pay the difference out of pocket so I wouldn't have monthly payments.

Good or bad idea?
