Went to acupuncture place, asked how much, and was asked if I had health insurance. I replied yes, without being sure if acupuncture would be covered.

Lady runs the card, and says "it's $20 dollars."

Two to three weeks later I get a bill from my insurance company saying I owe $130 because acupuncture is not covered under my plan.

I call the acupuncture lady back (as if I were a new customer) and ask how much acupuncture costs without any insurance, she says she's running a cash special for $50 dollars.

I have a feeling she was running the cash special 3 weeks ago as well.

I don't think the 40 minute service was worth the $150 she charged (i payed $20 co-pay). If fact, im sure if she had said the service costed $150, I would have politely declined.

Not sure if to negotiate with the acupuncture place first and try to talk them down to only pay $50 so that they can refund my insurance company the $130 she charged them (if that's even possible), or to call my insurance company and tell them that it sounds like this might be a scam.

Either way, I feel like I'm being scammed by both the acupuncture lady and the insurance. Not sure what to do.
