Thanks for all the advice. The other day I re-watched a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode where a commission sales rep orders Larry a pair of shoes. He ends up returning the shoes and negates the guy’s commission. Larry ends up trying to tip the rep his commission but he refuses to accept it. This was my mindset about getting fitted.

Anyways, I ended up calling the closest AE store yesterday to ask some general questions. First, I asked if they priced matched. Tom, the rep, said they did price match. I proceeded to tell him that I was driving from another state and it was about 1 hour drive. Then, asked if there was an item limit for price matching because I was planning on buying two Park Avenues at least. He kind of laughed and said, “I could price match the whole freaking store for you.”

Today, I got there early and was the only customer. Tom was a great guy and we talked a lot about work and family. I ended up getting two pairs of Park Avenues and matching belts, which were all priced matched to Nordstrom. I also got discounted shoe trees and shoe care products. All of this was still less the regular price of just two Park Avenues. They didn’t have my size in store for one color but they are shipping them to me for free. Overall, a great experience for my first AE purchase.
