My husband and I are preparing to start a family. We are looking at how to make this best work financially. We both currently work. He is 26 and makes about $37,000 and I am 25 and make $78,000. We live in a low cost of living area. We own a house and have two cars (one is paid off). When we start a family, we would ideally like to have one of us stay home with the kids while they are younger until they go to school. This will likely be my husband since he has the lower income.
Has anyone else moved from a double income to a single income? Any tips to best prepare us? We want to continue saving and not put ourselves in a position where we really live paycheck to paycheck if we can help it.
