In about two months I will be moving into a fully furnished house for a year or so, rent free. I will be using this as an opportunity to save money. I will need to store most of my stuff. I've gotten rid of a lot of stuff but there are still things I need to store for that year.

I've been reading up online and have found a lot of pages suggesting getting a climate controlled unit if you are storing any sort of appliances if you have extreme temperature changes. But most of those pages are related to pages trying to rent climate controlled storage units, so it makes me wonder how truthful that is.

Where I live it can get over 100 on and off for several months in the summer, as well as below 0 at night for several months in the winter.

I will be storing books, washer, dryer, bed, sofa, small kitchen appliances, 5.0 cubic feet freezer unit, vacuum, kitchen table topped with glass, wood chairs, and other things like that.

I'm wondering what people here have done with their storage units and am looking for any advice on whether or not I should get a climate controlled unit.

I obviously want to save money on the cheapest possible storage unit, but I don't want to have to repurchase stuff if the temps zap my things.
