This has been posted before but you can shortened thrifted surcingle belts pretty easily at home. I think shortening all leather belts would be harder but I would love to try that too!
I pay $4 for my surcingle belts at savers thrift store then shorten them at home if they are too long. It takes about 45 minutes per belt and I'm not fast at sewing.
