I've recently been refurbishing some old beaten up chests. One such chest was decorated in little brass half spheres that are very firmly fixed into the wood that bordered along all the edges, shown here.I just sanded the chest down with a detail sander to restain and reseal, and severely scuffed the little brass ornaments in the process. Normally I'd just polish them out, but it turned to be brass plated steel, and the steel now heavily shows through in many of the ornaments (picture; the white balance in the photo is off, I promise in person the shiny parts are steel). What's the best way to fix this? They're /incredibly/ hard to get out so I don't want to replace them or take them out to plate them if possible, but I don't know of any other way to fix it than to paint them, which doesn't look very nice.PS: If anyone can recommend good a supplier of small reasonably priced brass things that ships ie little chest handles), please let me know. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2tSBtnz
