My fiancé and I are planning our wedding and looking to cut down on as much as we can price wise. Most venues nowadays can cost a small fortune, and we're getting bummed that we couldn't find a venue in our budget. I'm still in college, about halfway finished wit my bachelor degree in computer science, and she just graduated and is a teacher, so our budget is small.
One day her aunt suggested checking out our capitol building (Oklahoma). We looked into it and found out booking it is free! The only cost is renting the chairs and tables, but those are super cheap (with all our chairs and tables it's under $100 for it all). But the actually venue use is free! We rented it out from the capitol buildings website. Here is what it looks like. Most capitol buildings are already well decorated so we don't need to do anything to it.
