I'm nearly 18 currently have 12k saved up. I should have a job where I will be making $20 an hours (if there's a position available) in September-October.
I'm minimalistic and don't need much to be happy I'll be applying for a credit card once I've got a job and possibly a car loan to establish good credit.
Since I'm minimalistic I'll be saving the large majority of my income and recently I've been looking into and thinking about real estate investment. I've learnt a bit in the last few days but was wondering what some of your opinions would be on a young person wanting to become a land lord.
What are some general requirements for purchasing a house to rent? I know you generally need at least 20% down to to get approved. Also how young is too young to get into this? I can work as much as possible since I don't have much to do and just save for a few years, maybe put some of my savings into stocks then whenever I'm ready I can purchase my first rental property.
I'm pretty good at handling stressful situations I don't really let stuff bother me so I think the stress factor of being a landlord wouldn't be much of an issue for me. But yeah any advice from experienced landlords or any advice from anyone would be helpful thanks.
