I'm very much a beginner to building anything myself, so any feedback or advice of any kind is welcome, but specifically, I am looking for input on making sure this thing won't fall over or collapse. The litter box is against an exterior door that is seldom used and a narrow cabinet, which is why it needs to be somewhat movable. The shape of the space itself is awkward, as it's at the end of a hallway where the right (exterior) wall goes straight into a cabinet & laundry area, and the left wall opens up at a 45 degree angle in front of an interior door and a bookshelf. If it sounds like an awful space, that's because it is, but it's the only space that works for a litter box without putting it in a living space. Here is the concept. I'll copy/paste my notes from there just for convenience:The idea is to have a table that can go over top of their litter box, and that works as a multipurpose cat station, with recessed food dishes, a food storage drawer, and a simple platform on top. I want to keep the table pretty narrow (max 22" x 32" tabletop), while still being stable enough to support cats jumping onto it. It does need to be somewhat easy to move when necessary. I don't like the idea of putting it on wheels, but maybe just putting it on furniture gliders would do the trick.I'd like to be able to rest the dishes into the table, with a bevel around them so that it's harder for them to scoop their food out of their dishes and make a mess.Seeing as it's a tight space, I think cutting away the corners of the table would help it fit into the space.Tl;dr I'd like to build a table that can be easily moved, while still supporting 65lbs (4 cats + 15 lbs food) and withstanding cats jumping on it. Dimensions of the tabletop cannot exceed 22" x 32", underside of the table needs to be a minimum of 18" high. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2vm2mOv
