(I'm pretty new at this so please let me know if this is a dumb question, or has an obvious answer that I am missing.)
I'm starting to do due diligence on $DIS as a prospective buy.
One of my major concerns for any media company right now is their future in online streaming. Disney owns a thirty percent stake in Hulu (sharing ownership w/ Comcast, 21st Century Fox, and Time Warner).
In both Disney and 21st Century Fox's annual reports, they state that they are evaluating Hulu using the "equity method". However, the value of their stake seems to be buried in the assets column somewhere. Or, at least, I do not see where they have re-evaluated the value of their respective stakes in Hulu.
I have seen a couple of places reporting that Hulu made $1.5b in 2015, but do not see where this number is coming from. I have also seen that Hulu has roughly fifteen percent of OTT viewing hours, compared to Netflix's forty percent.
Is there a resource that I am overlooking that could help me evaluate Hulu's worth to Disney and its other owners?
