Dear FFF,

I'm posting on behalf of my girlfriend who's currently busting her ass to prepare for the USMLE step 2 examination. Coming up in Nov/Dec we're both going to be visiting universities and hospitals across the country to interview for residency positions. I had great success finding a suit through the FMF subreddit and recently had it tailored; overall extremely happy with the results. She asked if I could help her find something, but I could really use some recommendations.

She's brunette with brown eyes, a slight tan, 5'7" 130lb, runner physique; usually wears a size 2 although lately that's been a little loose too. We both live off of student loans and that's why I need some frugal recommendations. She is really conscious about spending, but I've tried to impress on her the importance of spending a little extra for quality due to the importance of this outfit, and that it'll likely be worn 15-20 times in the next few months.

From reading several physician's blogs, I've gathered that it's best to be conservative- jacket with suit pants or jacket with dress skirt, conservative blouse. It seems like most people wear black, gray, and navy in that order. I've read that Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, and J Crew are good places to look; I think under $500 is reasonable, but she'd prefer closer to $200-300.

Any recommendations as far as brands, styles, colorings would be SUPER appreciated. Is there anywhere we could try things on? Seems like most places don't stock women's suiting. Live in Augusta, Georgia; could make it to Atlanta if need be.

TLDR: girlfriend in need of a residency interview suit starting from scratch, nice quality and comfort without spending > $500. Grateful for any suggestions
