What do I do? I don't want to take her off the card because I want her to make payments. I've put a freeze on the account until we can get into mediation and figure out how to divide debts, but since she's a joint owner, the bank said she could easily just reactivate the card at any time.
I've told her to get her own separate credit card, but I doubt she will.
I also can't outright close the account because we haven't figured out how to divide the credit card debt.
Any advice? Please!
EDIT: RESOLVED! (for now). Thanks for everyone's advice! I called the bank back and closed the account. I thought that we would have to pay the balance immediately in order to close it, but they were able to close it and just move the debt into a bucket that we can both make payments into. Thank you everyone so so so much! I'm breathing much easier (despite my life falling apart currently)
